"Pornslappers" selected as first runner up in the 2008 21st Annual Nevada Film Office Screenwriting Contest

"Pornslappers", a comedy screenplay by  writers Nick Welter and Kevin Schweer, recently took second place in the Nevada Film Office's 21st Annual Screenwriting Contest. The competition is the oldest state-run screenwriting competition in the country, attracting scripts that are required to have 75% of their locations filmable in the state. "This seemed like a natural fit for us, considering the nature of our story. You don't get much more Nevada than the Las Vegas Strip." said Welter. He continued "We didn't believe that the sometimes wild nature of the comedy and, although it's hardly an R-Rated movie, the adult themes, would play well in a competition like setting. Usually, they are looking for the next Yentl." Schweer added "It's good stuff, and we were particularly appreciative to the judges to be able to take the script for what it was... funny." Judges described the story as "Crude... sophomoric... offensive to all... but highly marketable."
